Championship/Priomh Comortas
Championship and Premier Competitions Craobh Comortas (Championship) A competition may be entitled a 'Championship' only when it is an Ard-Ghrad competition and - is judged by at least 3 adjudicators
- competitions, in the case of a stepdancing competition are required to perform at least two dances, one of which must be a 'heavy' dance and another a 'light' dance.
Priomh Comortas (Premier Competition) The title 'Priomhchomortais' (or Premier Competition) may be ascribed to a competition in any grade judged by one adjudicator, where the following conditions apply: - Two dances to be performed by each competitor
- In a Priomhchomortas with an upper age limit greater than 8 years, the dances must consist of a light and a heavy dance
- In a Priomhchomortas with an upper age limit of 8 years or less the compulsary dances must consist of either
- those stipulated for the older age groups and set out above or
- two light dances (Munster specific)
When a dancer wins first place in a Priomh Comortas competition, they are deemed to have won both dances in that competition, even if they are not awarded first place when individual round results are awarded. Priomh Comortaisi - Oireachtas na Mumhan: At Oireachtas na Mumhan, Priomh Comortaisi with more than one judge are held for age groups of 8 and under. Winners of these Priomh Comortaisi are considered Ard only in the dances perfomed for their Priomh Comortas . Winners of the Craobh Comortaisi i.e. the competitions for 9 years of age and over, are considered Ard in all dances. |
