Feis Rules
Dancer's Attaire: - Makeup will not be permitted for any dancer in the first two grades up to and including the under 12 age group.
- In Bun and Tus grad competitions, dancers are permitted to wear either class costumes or day wear e.g. skirts and tops.(Munster Specific Rule)
- The use of artificial carriage aids is strictly forbidden except in cases of a medical condition where a doctor's certificate may be requested.Any competitor found to be using artificial carriage aids & subsequently refuses to remove same, will be subject to disqualification from that particular competition. Medically prescribed apparatus (proof f which may be required) will be exempt from this ruling.
- Under no circumstances should dancers walk around any dancing venue in their underwear. Neither should dancers (regardless of age) change into or out of costume in the main dancing hall if at all possible.At all times, dancers must be properly attaired.
Feis Procedures: - Any objections, other than those related to adjudicator's decisions, must be lodged in writing to the Feis Committee. There will normally be a fee associated with such an objection ... see feis program.If the Feis Committee cannot resolve the issue satisfactorily, the objection should be forwarded to Comhairle na Mumhan.
- Any form of unauthorized photography which has the capability to capture a dancer's image whilst in motion, using electronic or manual means e.g. mobile phone, standard camera, video camcorder, cine recorder, commercial film, with or without flash enhancement, is expressly forbidden in competition.(Jan 2005)
- Smoking is forbidden in any venue where Irish Dancing Competitions are taking place.
Feis Admin: - Entries will only be accepted from teachers currently registered with An Coimisiun.
- Age is reckoned from January 1st.
- The adjudicator's decision is final.
- Bun and Tus Grad Competitions at Munster Feiseanna are confined to Munster and counties Laois, Offaly, Wexford and Kilkenny.
- Mean and Ard Grad Competitions are open to all regions unless otherwise specified on the Feis Program.
- Port competitions must have both a light and heavy result where both jig types have been performed.
- All Feis programs must contain a traditional hornpipe competition. .(Munster Specific Rule)
- All Feiseanna that have Championship competitions with 3 judges must take pre-entry for these competitions. .(Munster Specific Rule)
Summer Feis Rule (Munster region only): Applies to: a) Feiseanna taking place in the Munster region from the completion of the Mini-Munsters to September 1st. b) Dancers from the Munster Region For the above mentioned criteria, the competition grading rule will not apply. Dancers who win 1st place in any competition will not deemed to have won that dance in that grade. This applies for all dances and grades. |
